Swank and Casual Fashion Show Dance Party at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
A sizzling new breed of mega-parties is coming to San Diego this summer called Hot Topz. The premier California event is upscale, without bloated ticket prices; glitzy without being formal; and exclusive, while remaining open to the public. The Hot Topz theme showcases all that’s hot in San Diego fashion, cuisine, and lifestyle. The event charity also spotlights recent monumental HIV and cancer research by three local scientists from The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI).

We’re thrilled to introduce an extravagant multi-layer party in San Diego’s most luxurious venue -- the Manchester Grand Hyatt” said Kathy Yuhl, CEO of Desert Rock Productions. “The tone for the evening will be set at the vibrant Pink Carpet complete with bright lights, Rolls Royce cars, Step & Repeat banner, high-energy music, and Paparazzi camera flashes -- guests will know from the instant the valet opens their door they have arrived at something very special.”
The party runs from 8:00 p.m. to midnight inside the posh towers of the Manchester Grand Hyatt on the shores of San Diego Bay. A built-in Taste of San Diego offers guests samples of fine cuisine from numerous cutting-edge Chefs and restaurants, like The Restaurant at Stingaree in the Gaslamp District, recent Top Chef Winner, Frankie “The Bull” Terzoli, tempting deserts from the French Gourmet, and the chic P.F. Chang’s Chinese Bistro in Fashion Valley.
In the grand foyer of the ballroom guests can visit a variety of fashion and lifestyle hospitality booths hosted by sponsors Matti D, Symbolic Motors, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Chasan Cosmetic Surgery, San Diego Wine Events, Outder Cigars and Apparel, New Act Travel, Julez Bryant and Shadow Tour. Inside the ballroom, two more DJ’s will be spinning danceable music along with a special live set by former Santana warm-up band, Paradise, featuring their signature brand of “Latin Soul that Rocks.”
Near the midpoint of the program, Del Mar’s Matti D will present an exciting pop-up fashion show modeling her fabulous summer hot top designs for men and women. The show’s finale is a Hottest Top contest open to guests with 91X on-air personality, Jen White, behind the mic as Emcee. New Act Travel is donating a weekend package to the Hottest Top winner along with a pair of season passes to the Del Mar Horse Track.
Following the fashion show, Desert Rock is proud to showcase recent break-through HIV and cancer research involving visionary scientists from The Scripps Research Institute, as reported in the February 15, 2007 issue of Nature.
Tiffany & Company will present sparkling gifts honoring distinguished TSRI Ph.D. Dennis Burton, for his breathtaking advances toward an Aids Vaccine; and Ph.D.s Ben Cravatt and Peter Kuhn for their important cancer discoveries and on-going research.
During the course of the evening, through the generosity of Pink Carpet sponsor, Yuhl, Stoner and Carr, Paparazzi photos from the Pink Carpet arrival will be available onsite for voluntary guest and corporate tax-deductible donations with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Scripps Research Institute. TSRI recently earned Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating for the sixth consecutive year. Additional sponsors have donated a variety of gifts and services to recognize top individual and corporate giving.
All evening, guests are welcome to relax outside on the Manchester outdoor terrace with views over the San Diego Bay out to the Pacific Ocean. Outder Cigars and Apparel will host an informal Terrace Cigar Party and will be rolling Cuban’s as the sun sets over the Bay.
Remarkably, it’s not necessary to be a Hollywood star or multi-millionaire to receive an invitation to this exceptional event.
